Edamame · Grains & Seeds

Yes — cooked edamame (young soybeans) is a safe, protein-rich treat. Cook it first and serve unsalted.

Keeper's noteSteam or boil plain, then let your bird shell the pods. Never the salted restaurant version.

Why edamame is good for parrots

Edamame are immature soybeans, and cooked they're a good plant-protein source with fiber and minerals. Like all legumes, they should be cooked, never raw, and served without the salt edamame usually comes with. Shelling the pods is good foraging.
