Yes — walnuts are an omega-3-rich treat, ideal for macaws and conures. Unsalted, and crack the shell for smaller species.
Keeper's noteUnsalted. Crack the shell for smaller species — a whole walnut entertains a macaw but defeats a conure.
Why walnuts is good for parrots
Walnuts carry more plant omega-3 (ALA) than any other common nut, supporting skin and feather condition. Like all nuts they're fat-dense, so the serving unit is a piece, not a handful. In-shell walnuts are among the toughest natural puzzles a macaw can get.
How to serve it
A half walnut for large parrots, a small piece for little ones.
Plain only — never salted, candied, or baked into things.
Buy fresh and store airtight; old walnuts go rancid quickly.
